Meeting Minutes
March 3, 2009

Attendance: Ruth Rosenberg-Naparsteck, Tanya R. Schueler, Angel Curley (guest), Jed Metzger, Cork Young, Howard Spindler, Walter Boston, Shae Hanford, Bill Fulton, Joe Gersitz, Paul Caccamise
February Board Minutes were unanimously approved.
Angel Curley reported on the trip of 19 Fairport High School Students and four adults to Novgorod. The group was welcomed by Russian students. They stayed in Russian homes, learned Russian words, experienced traditional Russian art and birch bark weaving classes and a tea. She provided an itinerary.
Finance Report: There was no finance report. Paul is seeking suggestions for a Treasurer. Joe offered to provide limited services temporarily.
Committee Reports
Business:
Walter reported that with budget cuts he is not getting much interest from business people to attend a Russian seminar.
Communications:
Howard reported that there may be an Eastman student interested in the Rachmaninov Competition in Novgorod in 2010. One of the professors at Eastman is a judge.
Membership:
Paul provided Joe provided with some names of people interested in Linkages.
Education:
Tanya reported that the committee met to consider four candidates for travel to Novgorod. The four were: Andrea Hedgecock of Buffalo, Sherri Green of West Seneca, Jennifer Goodman of Churchville/Chili and Kelly LaLinda of Rochester. Sherri and Jennifer were selected with Andrea as an alternate. Kelly is encouraged to reapply when she has more teaching experience.
The Committee will staff a table at the NYSAFLT conference on March 14 at Nazareth.
Program, Culture, Arts:
The photographs were delivered to Paul by Angel. They will be framed after selection. Joe suggested that Paul ask Marina Sweeney, Lisa Steffen and Marina Vesty for their recommendation and they are more familiar with the landmarks, etc.
Partnership for Children: Jed reported that he has 15 students interested in traveling to Novgorod. He will consult with Angel and Shae as he plans the trip.
Partnership for Elder Care: Joe. Nothing to Report
Partnership for Prevention of Substance Abuse: Jack. Absent
Women’s Issues: Barb. Absent
1150th Anniversary committee:
Paul reported on the exhibit space at Image City in the Art Walk area of University Avenue. He passed around a post card showing the interior exhibit space. Everyone agreed it is an excellent space with good viewer traffic.
Report on Linkages Trip:
Shae has received estimates on the trip from Gate1. Airfare is dropping.
She will consult with Angel Curley and contact Terry Paddock, the travel agent used by Angel and the Fairport High School.
GVCO report:
Business: Walter reported that VDK Russ temporarily suspended business according to a letter received. He is not sure what the disposition of the GVCO equipment is. He has not been able to get answers to some of his questions. The company was invoiced $400 in back taxes. There is also a debt estimated to be $25,000.
An invitation will be sent to the Mayor. Being an election year, it is likely he may suggest a representative if someone goes.
ISCOR is proceeding with a sports exchange. Linkages has been invited to participate but will not be actively participating at this time.

Linkages will not be participating in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade this year.
