Linkages Board Minutes
November 2, 2009

Attendance: Ruth Rosenberg-Naparsteck, Debra Fromm Farin, Parker Moore, Cork Young, Jed Metzger, Joe Gersitz, Paul Caccamise, Jack Schottmiller, Shae Hanford, Tanya Schueler, Barb LeSavoy
The meeting was opened at 7 p.m. by President Paul Caccamise. Joe presented the Finance Report and requested that committees present their budget proposals by November 30. Jack suggested that the budget include money to send substance abuse Board members to Novgorod.
Joe distributed disbursement/deposits for the period 1/09 through 10/09. Joe suggested that a Linkages credit card be obtained for use by authorized Committee members rather than advance or reimburse authorized people.
Joe passed around a bond showing ¼ million shares of Genesee-Volkov Connection, Inc. stock.
Paul said the 2009-2010 Fundraising Campaign is under way in this holiday season. It is in the newsletter.
Open World- the delegation will arrive November 14. Joe discussed Open World and the need for volunteers.
Committee Reports-
Business: Walter could not attend. Paul said there was nothing to report.
Communication: Cork reported that the November newsletter has had a good response to the call for news. There are enough articles for two newsletters.
Membership: Cork will staple a form in the newsletter.
Education: Tanya reported.
Program, Culture, Arts: Paul reported that the photograph exhibit is on display at Fairport Baptist Home for a few more months. He requested ideas for exhibit sites. Shae suggested Kilbourn Hall in early January.
Partnership for Children: Jeb reported
Partnership for Eldercare: Debra discussed keeping in touch with senior centers and wants to know more about Russian needs.
Partnership for Prevention of Substance Abuse: Jack updated the Board on the 2010 Open World application.
Women’s Issues: Barb reported that Asya Ryazaniseva’s visit will be postponed. Barb emailed Galina who passed on the email to Asya. They will continue the communication in the spring.
President’s Report:
ISCOR annual meeting will be held on November 5 at 5:30 in the Link Gallery in the Central Library. The Rochester Public Library will display photos of Mali; Joe said Sudanese refugees are going to Mali. Joe will buy 25 of the Democrat & Chronicle books “Capture Rochester.” Paul showed a replica of the Millennium Statue gift from Novgorod to Linkages.
In January of 2010 a Novgorod television crew is scheduled to come to Rochester to film four short documentaries about the city.
Dick Fitts is looking into how we can send lilacs to Novgorod for the new Rachmaninov Memorial.
November 2010 Fundraising campaign will be conducted when the next newsletter goes out.
