Minutes of 6/ 7/10 Linkages Board Meeting, 7:00pm @ City Hall
Attendance: Paul Caccamise (Pres), Joe Gersitz, Jack Schottmiller, Bill Fulton, Barbara LeSavoy, Parker Moore, Roger (Cork) Young, and Shae Hanford
Absent: Ruth Rosenberg-Naparsteck, Jed Metzger, Walter Boston, Debra Fromm-Faria, Nick Coulter, Tanya N. Schueler

The meeting was opened at 7:00 PM by President, Paul Caccamise. The Minutes of the May 2010 meeting were approved.
Finance Report –Joe reported that Linkages has a bank balance of $27,504, its bills are paid up, and this year’s FederalTax EZ 990 Form was submitted on time. Linkages received contributions of $6,049 between 6/1/09 and 6/1/10. The costs for the 2 teachers going to Novgorod in June is over budget – costs expected to be $3,900, whereas only $3,000 was budgeted. Linkages has transferred the $500 Women’s Partnership sponsorship to Rebecca Perkins’ account.
Nominating Committee - Bill, Chair of the Committee, distributed the Committee’s nominating slate. Walter, Jack, Shae and Joe said they would not be re-upping their terms. The Board thanked them for their many years of work for the Board.
Annual Board Election – The Board as presented was unanimously elected, with Jed and Bill abstaining on the voting for their positions:
Class of 2011 – Jed Metzger
Class of 2013 – Bill Fulton and Rev.Garth Brokaw, Pres/CEO of Fairport Baptist Home
Student Representative 2010-2011 – Alex Glebov from Fairport High School
The Board elected the following Officers:
President – Paul Caccamise
(Vice President – currently vacant)
Secretary - Ruth Rosenberg-Naparsteck
(Treasurer – currently vacant. Joe Gersitz agreed to continue as Treasurer until the Board finds someone to take over this position.)
The Board proposed approaching several individuals who have given assistance to Linkages as potential candidates for the vacancies.
The Board thanked Bill for his work putting together again this year’s election’s slate.
Education Committee – Joe reported on this year’s Committee’s program to send 2 English teachers to Novgorod June 25-July 17. The Committee met with the two teachers and was impressed with the plans they’ve developed for their classes there.
Newsletter – Cork reported that, despite having lots of articles, a spring newsletter has not gone out because of a technical snag that has arisen.
Partnership for Children – Paul reported confirmation from Jed Metzger that the $650 that had been raised by the graduate students who participated in Jed and Debra’s 2009 Novgorod program, had been hand delivered by Elena and Fyodor, the TV crew from Novgorod who were in Rochester last month. The monies are for the two children’s camps that these students had visited.
Partnership for Prevention of Substance Abuse – Jack reported that he received an e-mail from US AID that their 2011 Open World program schedule has been moved back – probably to late fall 2011 – which will necessitate a lot of work in 2010 if Linkages wants to participate in it. A pre-application Letter of Intent will be due by late June or early July, and Linkages will need to show that it can meet the criteria for acceptance, including lining up a cast of government people the delegates will get to meet. The Partnership is going to go forward, and Jack and Bill agreed that they will prepare the Letter of Intent.
Women’s Partnership - Barb reported that Rebecca Perkins is on her way to Novgorod, and that the $500 Linkages is contributing towards her costs has been deposited in the account for her. Rebecca will be working on general gender questions with the Novgorod professor she’s working with.
Mayor Bobryshev’s visit - Paul reported that he and Mayor Duffy have sent a letter inviting Novgorod’s Mayor Bobryshev, at his own cost, to visit Rochester the week of October 21, 2010. Linkages will likely be providing a homestay for him.
Lilacs for Rachmaninov – Paul reported that the Rochester lilacs were safely delivered to Novgorod in May by Elena and Fyodor, the Novgorod TV crew.
Annual Picnic – The Board discussed tentative plans for the annual August picnic.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9pm.
