NOVGOROD 1150th ANNIVERSARY RUSSIAN TOUR – Mid SEPT. 2009
For roughly 10 days, Sept.13 - 25, we will stay and enjoy guided sightseeing of Moscow - including Red Square and the Kremlin, St. Petersburg - with the Hermitage, the Peter and Paul Fortre
ss, and Velikiy Novgorod - its kremlin, the oldest palace in Russia, St. Sophia Cathedral (11c.), and the Vitoslavlitsy wooden architecture and ethnographic museum. Russian architectural historians feel that no other Russian or Ukrainian city can compete with Novgorod in the variety and age of its medieval monuments.
Our stay in Novgorod coincides with Novgorod’s 1150th anniversary official celebration to include the Festival’s cultural events and historic reenactments highlighting traditional customs, costumes, crafts, practices, music and dancing (Sept. 18 -21). Family homestays available.
Interested members of Linkages and the public are invited to join the tour. (Tour to also include an official delegation from Rochester, a Sister City.)
